The vast majority of ordinary people have access to reports about content delivery networks (CDNs), almost all due to downtime events at major factories. But what everyone doesn’t know is that downtime isn’t the main reason many companies adopt converged CDNs.
In fact, according to market research conducted by well-known foreign media, the most common reasons why customers turn to adopting a converged CDN architecture are to reduce streaming media costs, improve quality of experience (QoE), and create an adaptive infrastructure to address local bandwidth issues.
Although almost all large content companies adopt the integrated CDN model, many small and medium-sized companies have not yet turned to content delivery strategies based on integrated CDN.
1、 Most companies tend to choose to integrate CDN
Using converged CDNs has become the most popular option in today’s streaming media market. If you have not yet adopted a converged CDN to achieve the benefits of lower costs, better end-user experience, or the ability to adapt to different local networks, then now is the best opportunity for you to collaborate with Huosan Cloud.
The above chart is a very intuitive representation of the changes in customers’ willingness to use converged CDNs from 2015 to 2020. Comparing the results of two surveys shows that by 2020, three quarters of companies currently use or intend to use converged CDNs, significantly higher than 43% in 2015. At the same time, according to a 2020 survey, 47% of major foreign companies are already using converged CDNs and 28% plan to use converged CDNs in the near future to ensure their content distribution.
2、 Autonomous integration of CDN platforms is relatively difficult
Only a few very large companies use a hybrid combination of self built CDNs and third-party CDNs to create their converged CDN infrastructure for a simple reason: achieving this goal is very complex and costly. And there are certain thresholds and difficulties in corresponding development technologies. If the system is not perfect, it may have a significant impact on the business, such as disruption in the CDN infrastructure. Due to the technical complexity of the task, most companies have abandoned the possibility of developing their own CDNs.
Quality of Experience (QoE) has become an important feature of successful streaming media services and cloud applications, with half of users considering QoE when deciding whether to retain streaming media services. Integrating the advantages of CDN – high bit rate and low latency – is the foundation for high-quality experiences.
3、 Matching your own converged CDN is the best option
The demand for CDN varies greatly from customer to customer: For example, some companies attach great importance to network speed and want the best acceleration effect, then the customer may need to ensure the widest and complete node coverage; Some companies want to maximize platform stability and ensure that their products do not go down, so customers may even need mainstream CDN manufacturers with the lowest probability of stable service downtime; For example, if some are sensitive to the cost of traffic and want to maximize cost control, the customer may need to partner with several relatively low-cost CDN manufacturers as the main users of CDN; For example, if some vendors already have long-term cloud vendors that want to continue working with them without disrupting the continuity of the collaboration, then the customer may need to use the CDN vendor that the customer previously worked with below a certain threshold parameter.
However, currently, some domestic converged CDN platforms are mostly “fake” converged CDNs, which only provide customers with access to several CDN manufacturers. However, in actual use, only the node resources of one CDN are used. Other CDNs only provide additional backups to prevent risks, and manually switch when the main CDN is in use, without truly integrating the intelligent monitoring and scheduling functions of the CDN platform.
However, very few real converged CDN platforms currently only support the selection of their inherent converged CDN solutions, unable to choose their own manufacturers and scheduling solutions, and unable to truly meet the needs of users. Therefore, creating an integrated CDN platform that truly matches customer needs and is highly transparent is crucial for many companies or projects.
Huosan Cloud is an intelligent integrated CDN platform that emerged against this background. We comprehensively provide a professional platform for refining and analyzing the performance of global websites and CDN, as well as an intelligent scheduling platform that supports multiple methods such as DNS, HttpDNS, and IP302 for CDN. Website owners and IT professionals can customize their desired CDN providers to further optimize content delivery and digital experience, ensuring business results
